I would like to bring to your attention a woman whom has written a childrens book about Parkinson’s Disease.
Her name is Dawn Porter and she has Parkinson’s. Since she was diagnosed she has been actively involved with the Pakinson’s cause. When her first grandson was born she sought a way in which to explain the desease to him in a way he could understand and wouldn’t frighten him.
Thus “Olivers Grandma” was born. The book was published by herself. She goes to various functions to sell them. The book is remarkable and very child friendly.
This story would fit in perfectly what with Micheal J Fox’s visit and all and quite a remarkable feat. I bring this to your attention not only because it’s a wonderful idea but also because she is my wife and I am so very proud of what she has accomplished
If you do decide to do a piece on this, she can be contacted by phone at 519-455-3435 or by e-mail at dawnporter@rogers.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Larry Porter
