It’s a world first for the London Health Sciences Centre. Heart surgeons used the Da Vinci robot to repair a hole in a patient’s heart caused by a pacemaker complication. You can see the procedure being performed by going to our /A \ Health and Home website. The hole was the result by a pacemaker lead that had perforated the wall of the heart. Conventional treatment involves open chest surgery. But using the robot, doctors were able to perform a minimally invasive procedure to pull the pacemaker lead back into place and close the hole in the heart. The patient was able to go home after only two days in hospital.
