PARKWOOD MUSIC THERAPY PROGRAM

Music hath charms to sooth the savage breast, and much more according to a new study.  British doctors found playing music for patients who are awake for surgery under local anesthetic can reduce anxiety.  Among a group of patients, it was noted that those who listened to music had more relaxed breathing patterns.  It’s one more example of the power of music in medicine, something that’s witnessed every day at Parkwood Hospital through it’s Music Therapy Program.
